Josh Marumoto

Photographer | Filmmaker | Storyteller

Born in Hawai’i. Living in Idaho. Serving the World.

Portrait and brand photographer standing on a rocky hill in a desert landscape, holding a large camera lens, wearing a white t-shirt, maroon cap, sunglasses, and tattoos on both arms.

It Took a Leap to Get Here.

I’m Josh—a photographer, filmmaker, and storyteller.

I was born and raised in Hawai‘i, where culture, connection, and aloha shaped everything I knew. Life there taught me to slow down, look deeper, and always lead with my heart.

In 2021, I moved my family to Idaho. It was one of the hardest and most important decisions we’ve ever made. We left home, community, and comfort behind to chase growth, creativity, and a life built with intention.

That journey—of sacrifice, strength, and stepping into the unknown—now fuels the stories I tell.

Because I don’t just capture what’s in front of the lens. I capture what it means to be human, to belong, to be seen, to be heard.

I Specialize In:

Portraits and Seniors

These aren’t just photos. They’re memories with weight. Whether you’re a high school senior entering a new season or someone wanting to freeze this chapter of life—I’ll help you feel confident, seen, and yourself.

Brand Content

Visually-driven stories for people, products, and purpose. Whether you’re launching a business, building a legacy, or ready to connect with your audience—I create brand videos that feel real, grounded, and compelling.

Lifestyle and Storytelling

Slow, cinematic, documentary-style visuals. Stories that reflect who you are and what matters to you. Whether it’s a moment, a message, or a movement—you bring the soul, I’ll bring the lens. We tell the story.

FAQs

Do you travel for shoots?

100%. While I’m based in Idaho, I’ll go wherever your story takes us—whether it’s a mountain cabin, small town, open field, or back home in Hawai‘i. Travel fees depend on location and type of session, but I’ll always be upfront and flexible.

What if I’m awkward or don’t know how to pose?

That’s honestly most people—including me when I’m on the other side of the camera. You don’t need to “perform” or pretend. I’ll guide you through simple, natural movements so it never feels forced. I want you to feel like yourself—not like a model.

What types of brand projects do you take on?

I work with brands that value storytelling—whether you’re a solo creative, a product-based business, or a nonprofit. I’m especially drawn to people who care deeply about what they do and why they do it. If your brand has purpose, I’d love to help bring it to life visually.

How far in advance should I book?

For portraits or lifestyle sessions, I recommend reaching out at least 4–6 weeks ahead. For larger brand or video projects, 6–8 weeks is ideal to allow time for concepting, planning, and production. That said, if you’re on a tighter timeline—reach out. I’ll do what I can.

Do you offer packages or custom quotes?

Both. I have general pricing starting points, but most projects are tailored to your needs. Whether it’s a one-day shoot or a multi-video campaign, I’ll send a custom quote after learning more about your goals.

What’s your editing style like?

Natural, clean, cinematic. I aim for timeless—not trendy. In photos and video, I lean into color tones that feel true to the moment, while adding depth and emotion. No heavy filters. No distractions. Just visuals that feel.

Can you help shape the creative direction?

Definitely. Whether you have a full vision or no idea where to start, I can help guide the story, visual concept, and mood. From scripting and shot lists to location planning and styling—I’ve got you covered.

Do you require a deposit to book?

Yes. A non-refundable deposit (usually 25–50% depending on the project) secures your date and covers pre-production planning. The remaining balance is due on or before shoot day.

How do I get my final files?

I deliver everything via a private online gallery or folder—easy to download, share, or use. For brand clients, I also include usage rights and formatted video versions optimized for web, social, and mobile.

Can I book both video and photo in one session?

Absolutely. In fact, that’s often the best way to create a cohesive, content-rich experience. Let me know what you're looking for and I’ll build a shoot that gives you both.
